Thank you again for talking with me about my options regarding getting
at least one design "to market" in some way. It was very helpful to me.
I met with Deepika on friday and talked about some of her ideas as
well as what things I had found out that week. She would simply like
to have this dress ( and embellishment instructions) available to her
and other PR readers - her concern is not how I do it but that I do
it. The ideas she had did not really take my concerns into account. I
don't hold this against her since I am not her responsibility. She has
some good ideas for the web site, offering downloadable patterns in a
PDF format - and I may be interested in participating in some way but
it does not make sense for me to offer this whole dress& embellishment
design in that format. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that she means
"free" downloadable pdfs.
So, I was a little disappointed since I had hoped that she might have
connections or ideas that would help light the way for me. She did say
that her relationships with people at Simplicity patterns is good and
that may be helpful.
So, that is pretty much all I have to tell about that meeting. I have
not been able to focus on it since then because I have some work to
get out with the usual tight deadlines. So, I'll come back it later
this week, hopefully tomorrow.
I said I would let you know how it went and would love to talk with
you again sometime soon. I am intrigued by the fact that you said that
selling designs to manufacturers on a freelance basis may be an option.
So, I will call you again soon, please just let me know if I call at a
bad time and we can figure out a time that works for you.
The blog continues to be fascinating and I am working through the
book. I started at the beginning but I do a fair amount of hopping
around just because it is hard to resist. I still find such great
stuff in your archives also.
I got onto the forum but don't understand how it works yet. I did got
to specific questions posed and read things but haven't found the
current interaction center yet. I'll figure that out when I can focus
again.
